Usher set to Dazzle Las Vegas at Super Bowl 2024 halftime show

Usher

The National Football League (NFL) announced eight time Grammy winner Usher will be performing at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show in February.

Usher took to his Instagram account to share the exciting news through a video, joined by none other than former NFL star and current football coach at Colorado University, Deion Sanders. Affectionately known as “Coach Prime,” Sanders delivered the thrilling announcement directly to Usher in the video clip.

The R&B star expressed his gratitude and excitement in an official NFL statement upon being selected for the Super Bowl halftime show: “It’s an honour of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”

Super Bowl LVIII is scheduled to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11, 2024. The highly anticipated game and its spectacular halftime show will be broadcasted on CBS, with the halftime show being sponsored by Apple Music. This marks the fifth collaboration between the NFL and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation to produce the halftime show.

While Usher is set to headline the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show, the NFL has not disclosed whether any other artists will join him on stage. Interestingly, Usher made a guest appearance during the Black Eyed Peas’ halftime show back in 2011, creating memorable moments for fans worldwide.

Rihanna’s halftime show during Super Bowl LVII made history as the most-watched halftime performance of all time, as confirmed by the NFL.

Who is Usher?

Usher Raymond IV, born on October 14, 1978, is a multifaceted American artist known for his prowess in singing, songwriting, and dancing. His musical journey kicked off with the release of his self-titled debut album, “Usher,” in 1994. However, it was his second album, “My Way,” launched in 1997, that propelled him to stardom during the late 1990s.

Usher, often hailed as the “King of R&B” by numerous media sources, boasts an impressive track record in the music industry. His sales figures in the United States alone are a testament to his popularity, with 23.8 million albums and 38.2 million digital songs sold. Globally, Usher’s impact is even more staggering, as he has sold a remarkable 80 million records worldwide. This remarkable achievement firmly establishes him as one of the best-selling music artists in the history of the industry.

Usher has been open about his deep respect for Michael Jackson, considering him a major influence. He’s expressed this influence in various ways, highlighting how Jackson’s impact goes beyond music, touching on humanitarianism and philanthropy. Usher believes that Jackson’s influence has not only shaped him as an artist but also as someone who breaks cultural boundaries. He credits a significant part of his identity and success to Michael Jackson’s legacy. This admiration led to a memorable moment when Usher had the honor of dancing alongside Jackson during the ‘Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Special,’ where they performed “You Rock My World” together.
